I stayed there a couple of nights in December 2023. The hotel has an beautiful facade and is right across from the train station, 10-15 minutes from the cathedral and enjoyable city center shopping and vibe. The interior presents and understated elegance with a touch of art deco. There's a bar; unfortunately the restaurant was closed and services were limited. I booked via booking.com and had to pay a city charge at check-out, a minor annoyance. Bed was comfortable and bath modern. A great value
I stayed here a couple of nights on my own and couldn't fault the hotel at all. The staff were friendly, the room comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was of a reasonable size and the shower easy to use. The breakfast was copious with many fresh products and the option to make tea using a kettle. Shame they didn't have the same facility in the room though.
The Jehan de Beauce Hotel in Chartres, France is a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms and an excellent staff. Breakfasts are excellent as well. The location between the train station and the Chartres Cathedral is perfect for travelers who might be new to Chartres.
Conveniently located across from the train station, nice rooms and competitive business rates.
On our way to Rennes we decided to stop in Chartres to see the beautiful cathedral. In Chartres, options are quite limited in term of hotels with charm, cleanness, rooms etc. We picked this hotel based on location(it is 5 min walk to the cathedral), reviews and how it looked based on pictures. I booked our room online few minutes before arriving. Premium rooms are small at 170sf(16m2) so we picked the junior suite which was priced at 142 EUR/night. It is a good size room, comparable to a standard size room in US. However, calling this room a junior suite is somewhat of a stretch as there is no separation between sitting area and bed. When we showed up, the lady at check-in was nice but somewhat confused and asked me to pay for the room when I had already prepaid it. I showed my reservation and she apologized as she had missed it and fixed the issue on her system.
Based on review I read, I was a bit concern that rooms were lacking sound proof windows but i believe they went through a recent renovation and all windows were modern with double panes. when I was outside, I could see it applied to all the room and not just ours. Although it is overlooking the street it was very quite. Overall room was extremely clean, charming, nicely done with personable style of furniture. Bed was good semi firm. 2 nice plush bathrobes were provided as well as couple free water bottles on the desk. However no kettle or coffee maker. Adding a coffee machine would a nice addition . They do have great automatic coffee machines in the lobby.
Hotel is right in front the train station which makes it very convenient if you come by train. There is a public parking at the station right across the street as well as an option to park in the back courtyard for 9 EUR if space is available (accessibility in courtyard is not great if parking is full. Can be very tight).
They offer a good buffet Breakfast at 16 EUR per person. Individual wrapped plates with cold meat, cheese, fruit salad, cereal, granola, etc… are available to pick without sanitary risks. A small appliance allows to do boiled eggs.
All in all, it is a great hotel at that price. i would definitely come back here when stopping in Chartres.
Great proximity to train station, cathedral, and restaurants. My only quibbles were: the room safe was NOT secured to the wall (thus rendering it close to useless) and the water pressure could be a bit higher. Book a superior room to have space to open your suitcases.
Bar at reception quite nice, with easy-listening music in the background. A bit quiet though. Rooms clean and staff all excellent, with most speaking some English (which I need as my French is rubbish). Access for car parking a pain though, as you have to ask for garage door remote control and return it each time, before leaving for the day, and nowhere legal really to stop car in meantime. Restaurant only open for breakfast unfortunately. 😑
Fantastic hotel, brilliant location, secure parking, lovely staff - recommend the junior suite but frankly any room would do!
